Building Lasting Relationships with Positive Dog Training

Meet the Trainer

Ariana Rodriguez, ABCDT

Owner & Trainer

Dogs had always been present in Ariana's life as she was growing up, but it wasn't until she brought home her first dog that she realized just how much time and energy training a dog required.

Ariana began training as a hobbyist with the Leeward Training Club of Hawaii. She was taught that aversive methods worked best for training and maintaining behaviors, but she knew there had to be a better way to create and maintain a relationship with her dog. And there was -- she attended the Dog Scouts of America event and was exposed to reward-based methods which created successful relationships with dogs and didn't involve any coercion.

Since then, Ariana has enjoyed crossing over to positive methods for training and competing. Thus, all of her training programs use science based techniques to teach, solve and maintain behaviors.

And because of her past experiences, she empathizes with those that struggle with switching to more positive based methods and believes that shaming people over the training techniques they use doesn't work. Instead, she encourages anyone that is interested in using positive based techniques to contact her for an open discussion about training methods without judgement.
